The discussion is not only about what modern diagnostics and treatment can do, but about choosing between them. The programme, "From diagnosis to clinical decision", brings together the key stages of decision-making:
- See and interpret — imaging and functional diagnostics in ambiguous cases.
- Choose the intervention strategy — surgical, endovascular and hybrid methods, their indications and limits.
- Account for comorbidity — the effect of concomitant diseases and competing risks.
- Act in a critical situation — acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, perioperative complications.
- Resolve non-standard cases — situations that call for several expert opinions at once.
One view is not enough
A complex cardiovascular patient rarely fits within a single specialty: diagnostic findings, intervention options, comorbidities and perioperative risks need to be assessed together. A sound individual strategy emerges from dialogue between cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventionalists, diagnosticians and intensive care physicians.
