St. Petersburg State University Clinic Specialists Participate in the Russian National Congress of Cardiology
The Russian National Congress of Cardiology “Science and Innovation in Cardiology” has concluded in Kazan, bringing together more than 4,700 participants from various countries. The Congress covered all key areas of cardiovascular medicine, from clinical practice to organizational and methodological development of cardiology services.
Specialists from the Center of Cardiovascular Surgery and Interventional Cardiology actively participated in the scientific program, presenting reports on current issues in cardiac surgery and cardiology.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Cardiac Surgery, MD, PhD Dmitry V. Shmatov, and cardiovascular surgeon of the Cardiac Surgery Department, MD, PhD Alexey A. Filippov, delivered a presentation in the session dedicated to modern approaches to the treatment of aortic aneurysms and acute aortic syndrome. Their report focused on optimal surgical decision-making in patients presenting with acute chest pain and emphasized the critical importance of early diagnosis and timely surgical management of aortic dissection and rupture of the thoracic aorta.
In the session devoted to artificial intelligence and machine learning in cardiology, cardiovascular surgeon MD, PhD Gleb Irlamovich Kim presented the results of the first artificial intelligence project in cardiac surgery in Russia — Expert Opinion Open AI — to the leadership of the Russian Society of Cardiology.
The presentations by St. Petersburg State University Clinic physicians generated significant interest and active professional discussion among Congress participants, highlighting the relevance and practical value of the topics addressed.
